LRG wins Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering Award

Ali and Dave were just awarded the Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering Best Paper award for 2017, for their paper “Hierarchical dense structure-from-motion reconstructions for infrastructure condition assessment“.

LRG awarded ONR grant

Dr. Lattanzi was recently awarded a new grant from the Office of Naval Research: “High-dimensional Life-Cycle Modeling for Naval Survey Assessments”. Work is planned to start in January. Check the research projects pages for more details.

LRG featured in Civil Engineering Magazine

Dr. Lattanzi goes to IWSHM

Dr. Lattanzi recently presented recent LRG work at the 2017 International Workshop for Structural Health Monitoring. The title of the paper and talk was “Integrating 3D Computer Vision and Robotic Infrastructure Inspection”. You can read more about this work HERE.

Bahman departs for FHWA

Congratulations to Bahman for successfully defending his thesis and accepting a position as a bridge engineer with FHWA. The LRG team will definitely miss Bahman’s “unique” contributions to the group, and we wish him nothing but the best.

Ali, Dave, and Dave survive I-Corps

Ali Khaloo, Dave Lattanzi, and David Perkins recently completed the National I-Corps “Teams” program as Team 876: Arcus Analytics. Despite the stress and sleepless nights, the team was able to finish as one of the strongest teams in the cohort (108 interviews!). Ali, who served as the team lead, has earned some sleep.

Dr. Lattanzi was invited to speak last week (5/20/16) at the American Society of Highway Engineers National Conference. His talk was titled “Unmanned Aerial Vehicles with Applications in Bridge Inspection and Surveying”.

Ali and JR presented their findings at the 2016 International Conference on Sustainable Design, Engineering, and Construction. Ali’s presentation was on “Exploring computer vision inspection techniques through data mining of the visual NEESHub”. JR’s presentation was “A Machine Learning Approach to Bridge Prototyping”.
